Corin is a generic term to describe a modifier, which affects eumelanin (black pigment) production into the cat’s hair. It is an autosomal recessive trait.
The Board decided to assign the EMS code “u” for the (re-)registration of corin varieties.
Corin is a non-recognised variety (“x”).
The code for corin (“u”) may be assigned:
- only to cats, which are genetically proven to be corin, and
- only to agouti varieties (EMS codes 11, 12, 21-25) in BLH/BSH, KBL/KBS and SIB/NEM.
Since corin affects black pigment production, it is not available for use with red and cream cats. The EMS codes “d” and “e” may not be used with corin.
