The FIFe Board has received a report from the Ragdoll Breed Council concerning pedigrees that may contain unverified information. The report identifies cats that were reportedly never bred by the cattery named, yet appear in FIFe pedigrees.
As not all listed cats can be verified, the FIFe Board has considered how such cases should be handled. We have deliberately chosen not to advise deletion, as this would lead to a loss of historical information and make pedigree interpretation more difficult.
Instead, unverified cats will remain in the pedigree and be marked by the national pedigree administration with a note such as “not confirmed”. This ensures transparency while preserving available genealogical data.
Some pedigree books of our 42 Member organisations may include these cats. How such entries are handled may depend on whether living descendants exist and will be decided by the respective national pedigree administrations as there no common procedures exist.
Breeders concerned must decide individually how to proceed.
The report is distributed to our Member organisations and individual members are encouraged to contact their national pedigree administration if clarification is needed.
