Preliminary recognition of the corin variety in British

At the initiative of the British Longhair/Shorthair Breed Council and recommended by our Commissions (BRC, HWC and JSC), the Board decided to grant preliminary recognition status to the corin variety in British, effective as from 01.10.2025.

Please click here to download:

  • the specific registration rules and show rules during the corin preliminary recognition phase
  • the corin colour descriptions
  • the table of preliminary recognised corin varieties in British Longhair/Shorthair.

Please note that the Breed Council specifically asked to include only the listed colours/patterns, and not any other corin varieties:  silver (“s”) or with white (01/02/03). These varieties remain non-recognised (“x”) varieties.

We advise our Members, their registrars and show organisers, our judges and BLH/BSH exhibitors to carefully read and apply the registration and show rules, as laid down in this document, during the corin preliminary recognition phase.

As from 01.10.2025, British Longhair/Shorthair corin varieties can be exhibited at shows as preliminary recognised varieties in accordance with Show Rules § 5.5.2:

  • up to classes 7 and 8 (for CACIB/CAPIB),
  • Best in Variety is possible, but
  • no Nominations and no Best in Show.

Please send scans of judges’ reports, diploma’s and PIC/PIP-title registrations of corin BLH/BSH, needed to propose the full recognition of the varieties to Mrs. Nathalie Smits-Peelen (NL), member of the Breed Council BLH/BSH.

We wish breeders and exhibitors of corin British lots of success in their endeavours leading to full recognition of the new variety.

Exception granted to propose full recognition

In order to facilitate an early proposal for full recognition the Breeding & Registration Commission will accept documentation from the preliminary recognition phase until 01.03.2026 (→ Breeding & Registration Rules § 11.2.5).
