FIFe is in mourning. Our General Secretary Mr. Eric Reijers (CZ) died on Wednesday July 30th, 2025, at the age of 65 years.
We don’t know how many words would serve to honour the tremendous, long-term commitment and dedication from Eric to our Federation and he will be sorely missed.
Cats were always around in his life, starting at the age of 6 years old when he got his “own” first Siamese. In 1985 he started breeding British under his cattery name “Pendragon”, later also Siamese & Orientals – as well as Maine Coons for a short period – and then only Cornish Rex. He was a true animal lover, also having always dogs around.
Eric was a FIFe All Breed Judge after passing his examinations in categories III and IV in 1999, in category I in 2005 and II in 2009.
He had several positions within the FIFe Members where he belonged to, in Mundikat (NL) and later ČSCH-SCHK (CZ).
He was elected FIFe Vice President in 1997, President in 2003 and General Secretary since 2005. He was one of the longest serving functionaries in FIFe Board positions.
He was also the President of the World Cat Congress (WCC) until his death.
The Board of FIFe extends its sincere condolences to his family and friends and the Czech FIFe Member ČSCH-SCHK.
Eric’s funeral will be on Wednesday, August 6th at 13:00 in Hrušovany nad Jevišovkou (CZ), Drnholecká 521.
