Obituary – Mrs. Christel Hartmann

The FIFe Board was informed about the sad news that our former Board colleague Mrs. Christel Hartmann, died in Germany on the 12th of June at the age of 84 years.

Christel bred Persians and British Shorthair cats under the cattery name ‘Casa dos Cedros’, which was registered in 1987.

Originally from Germany, Christel moved to Portugal where she lived for over 40 years. She joined the Portuguese FIFe Member, CPF, in 1987 and served as its president from 1988 to 1991. She was one of the great driving forces behind organised cat breeding in Portugal. After her term as president, she was vice-president of CPF for many years.

Christel was elected as Vice-Treasurer of the FIFe Board at the 2003 General Assembly in Amsterdam. At the GA 2011, in Bucharest, she decided not to stand for re-election. In 2013 she stepped down from her duties in CPF and was made an honorary CPF member for the exemplary and dedicated way in which she had always carried out her duties.

Christel moved to Germany in 2020 but never stopped to be part of the cat fancy.

The FIFe Board extends its deepest condolences to her son Oliver, family and friends, both in Portugal and in Germany and the Member CPF.
