At the initiative of the Bengal Breed Council and recommended by our Commissions (BRC, HWC and JSC), the Board decided to grant preliminary recognition status to the charcoal variety in Bengal, effective as from 01.06.2025.
The charcoal colour descriptions and the table of preliminary recognised charcoal varieties are available in the document Preliminary recognised breeds and varieties, pages 15 – 19.
As from 01.06.2025, Bengal charcoal varieties can be exhibited at shows as preliminary recognised varieties in accordance with Show Rules § 5.5.2:
- up to classes 7 and 8 (for CACIB/CAPIB),
- Best in Variety is possible, but
- no Nominations and no Best in Show.
Please send scans of judges reports and diploma’s of charcoal Bengals needed as requirements for obtaining the full recognition of the variety to Mr. Rui Rodrigo Trafaria Fernandes (PT), member of the Bengal Breed Council.
